Highly recommended by me. Loved it & the exercises. So far this book is a painful slog through a torturous marsh of tangled words. If I wasn't already annoyed that the book is basically rehashing all the same messages from 'The Secret' but replacing the 'law of attraction' with 'being thankful', then I would still be tearing out my hair from the repetitiveness of it all. Not only that, but the author throws out ridiculous claims about studies that were done without any proof, and tells you to 'rub your magic rock' without telling me how it works So far this book is a painful slog through a torturous marsh of tangled words. If I wasn't already annoyed that the book is basically rehashing all the same messages from 'The Secret' but replacing the 'law of attraction' with 'being thankful', then I would still be tearing out my hair from the repetitiveness of it all.
Not only that, but the author throws out ridiculous claims about studies that were done without any proof, and tells you to 'rub your magic rock' without telling me how it works exactly. So much for her claims of mixing magic and science. She might as well just tell us to all stand on our heads and recite the alphabet backwards.
Then money will fall from the sky and you'll never be sad again. Trying to take notes for the book club I'm in, but I keep having this incredibly powerful urge to stab the pencil into my eyeball. Especially when I came to the part about sprinkling magical frocking pixie dust on everyone. Sorry Rhonda, it's just not happening. Her experiences in life led her to discover the Law of Attraction which then turned her life around. Her amazing ability to see the best in everything, to feel love for everyone and everything and to help so many people across the world has given her a wonderful insight into how we can all change our lives for the better.
Rhonda opens her book with a stunning revelation. After explaining how the Law of Attraction works, and revealing how 'like attracts like' her amazing revelation is that the key to a truly abundant and happy life lies in the practice of gratitude.
This might not sound like much of a revelation to start with but evidence shows that the more we practice gratitude and give thanks on a daily basis, the more abundance will begin to flow to us. As well as the well known metaphysical facts about energy, she bases her opinion on the evidence of her own life and many others who have transformed theirs since discovering the Law of Attraction. How grateful are you? Rhonda's book features a course of exercises, helping us to practice gratitude so that we can improve every area of our lives and dissolve the problems or negative situations we're experiencing.
Many of us believe we're already grateful but as Rhonda points out, she thought this was true of herself until she discovered the real power of gratitude and by practicing daily gratitude in every part of our lives, what a difference this can make. Build your 'attitude of gratitude' The exercises, designed to be followed every day for 28 days, help us to build an ' attitude of gratitude' almost like flexing and training a muscle in a gym.
Before we start the daily exercise, the first thing Rhonda recommends is to be specific about our wants. Dividing our life into categories describe exactly what we'd like - she suggests Work, money, wealth, relationships, personal desires and material things. Commit to your daily Top Ten She then suggests on a daily basis every morning listing ten things we're grateful for (our Top Ten), and then writing down why we're grateful for them! Thinking about why we're grateful for something really helps to focus our mind and experience real gratitude. Rhonda also suggests we use a Gratitude Rock.
This could be a smooth pebble or stone that you can hold in the palm of your hand. Keep it by your bedside and every night think of something that has happened that day that you're the most grateful for - hold the Gratitude Rock in your palm and give thanks for whatever it is you're thinking of. These daily acts of gratitude help our positive thoughts build up into a permanent uplifting and happy vibe, cultivating this amazing thankful attitude on a daily basis is well worth thinking about! Gratitude Rock Each day as well as writing down our Top Ten at the start of each day, and using the Gratitude Rock in the evening before we go to sleep at night, we get to practice a separate daily Gratitude. Every exercise is designed to help us appreciate and enhance a different area in our lives, from health and wealth to work and relationships.
Have we got relationships in our lives that perhaps aren't what they should be? At work, how often do we harbour bad feelings about how things are? What about our finances and how we feel about money? Any fears, doubts or worries that we carry around with us, will be producing more of the same. Following the exercises in The Magic will change this situation by helping us to monitor our thoughts easily and so, by building up gradually over the 28 days, new ways of thinking become part of everyday life, allowing us to see the things we normally take for granted in a totally different light.
Rhonda helps us to really appreciate what we have, even if it's not what we're ultimately aiming for and just by the simple act of practicing gratitude regularly, we start to attract more and more of the good stuff into our lives every day! Gratitude to Rhonda There will always be sceptics about this type of book, but I believe the proof is in the pudding. I've completed the 28 day exercises and feel differently about my life - more optimistic, more joyous, more appreciative. Dont knock it until you try it, is what I say!!! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to develop themselves and positively enhance their lives for the better. Now I've finished the 28 day gratitude exercises, I feel really qualified to comment on how effective they were!
(note to other sceptical reviewers!). The Secret taught the world the law of attraction. The Power unleashed the law of love. In Byrne's latest book she drills down into something mentioned in the earlier two works: the law of gratitude.
Practice gratitude every day, Byrne teaches, and your life will transform. Studies done in the field of positive psychology advocate the life-transforming power of keeping a gratitude journal. Byrne walks you through how gratitude affects each area of life, health, wealth and relationships.

Byrne walks you through how gratitude affects each area of life, health, wealth and relationships. But this book is more practical than the others, with a 28-day path to a life madeover by gratitude. Since I saw the Secret, I've consistently kept a gratitude journal. I know that in my role as carer for my Grandma who has dementia that gratitude has helped me find super-reserves of patience as I promote her dignity and independence. I also know that I stil have days — sometimes straight after writing my gratitude journal — where I lose patience and flare-up. I'm still human, and I'm grateful for that.
I'm also grateful to Rhonda Byrne for writing this book because it will help me put a jet pack on my gratitude practice and it will help you live a life of gratitude wherever you're at now. To me, there is something vaguely insidious about this book. The ideas in the book are not new - most of it is standard law of attraction stuff, which is fine, and I am totally on board with all of that. However, the idea that the big stuff in life hinges on how grateful we are is a bit disturbing. On the one hand, yes, it is very, very important to be grateful for the simple things in life: oxygen (some people cannot breathe on their own), the ability to walk (ditto), see, type messages to each other - everything. We should all be grateful for those things because anyone who knows, or has known, anyone who has had those 'simple' things taken away from them by illness or some other misfortune will know just how awful it is.
However, I resent the implication the author seems to insist on that if we don't do the things she says, how and when she says them, then our lives will suck. Who made her the master of the universe? And I cannot and will not accept that people get serious illnesses, as the author suggests, because they weren't grateful enough for their health. I wonder if Ms Byrne would be confident enough in her beliefs to go and repeat that to a ward full of cancer patients? There is a lot of good stuff in this book, but the concept of gratitude - which is essentially the only drum this book is banging - should not be a startling revelation to anyone.

In another review of The Magic, the reviewer said that the book is repetitive. Yes, it most certainly IS repetitive. This repetition is absolutely essential to increasing and deepening the power of gratitude in your life. By practicing gratitude on a daily basis, your gratitude WILL grow stronger.
Here is my favorite part of the book: from page 83 'And just for today, see if you can get through one day without saying anything negative. It may be a challenge, but see if you can make it through ONE day. There is an important reason to do this, because most of us have no idea how much we speak negatively, but you'll have an idea after watching your words for a day. Remember that negativity and complaint bring more of those things, and if you're aware of what you're saying you can stop and decide if you want the consequences of what you're about to say. Here is a magic lifeline you can use if you notice yourself thinking or saying something negative. Stop immediately, and say: But I have to say that I am really grateful for. Finish the rest of the sentence with something - anything - that you're grateful for.
Take this magic lifeline with you, and grab a hold of it whenever you need it. ' I share this here with you because anyone can use this little bit of grace in their life.
After all, complaining is something we all do at times, but, Rhonda has given us a powerful mantra that can help reverse some of the negativity complaining creates. But I have to say that I am really grateful for. These are such powerfully magic words. As far as I know, there aren't any scientific studies that actually prove these words can change anything; I only know that I feel better after saying them. This book is filled with powerfully positive vibrations that you must experience for yourself.
Doing the 28 exercises in gratitude will fill your world with magic. I highly recommend reading The Magic. I found this book to be incredibly hokey. Really, it was repetitive, and cheesy, and I had to force myself to finish it. Nevertheless, Byrne is on to something important in this book, and I found that making myself slog through it helped me to get in touch with the power of gratitude to transform my experience of life.

I gave up on the exercises early on as they were time consuming and difficult to fit into my already packed life. However, just reading a chapter or three every day or so had a strong impact on my use of gratitude and my recognition for all that is right in my world. When we remember to be grateful, both verbally and energetically, we change our perspective from one of lack to one of bounty. This helps us to feel better, and according to Byrne, helps us to invoke all the good we can imagine.
I haven't manifested anything massive through these practices (yet) but I have to admit that I feel better, and I am noticing all the good that does come my way with clearer vision. Hot running water coming out of the tap.
My general good health. A refrigerator. A car that runs.
A house with room for all. This computer I type. The information well that is the internet. My eyes, my hands, my ears. A better job prospect and new opportunities that I had never before thought possible.
Every single day, I give thanks for these blessings and more. And you know what? I do feel better. And things are looking up. Or at least, I am. This is the third and final book in Rhonda Byrne's self-help series.

The focus of these was gratitude: gratitude for what and who you already have in your life and the wish to grow these good things into something more. Within days of beginning these practises I really started to see the benefit in my daily life. It is hard to feel negative when giving genuine thanks for something. These easily accomplished exercises helped me to feel happier, kinder, and more in tune with all the wonderful things this life has afforded me.
I was also more in tune with when I was focusing on the negative. I started to alter my perspective on things and actively look for the good around me instead. This only heightened my already soaring happiness and has led to me, 28 days later, as a far more mindful, grateful, and content individual. I very much subscribe to this stuff. I like it a lot, and it has completely changed my life.

I have absolute confidence in the things within as being things that will enhance and remind me of all the wonder and, indeed, magic of life. These books have not just got me through all manner of tough circumstances, but they've given me many, many tools to brighten up literally everything around my life. Truly, I am happier for these books. I am excited to have what, on first reading, very much feels like either a starter or refresher course, as applicable, in the methods and attitudes expressed in Rhonda Byrne's other books, and I am, heh, grateful for its existence. Recommended to buy if you liked the previous books, and to try if you haven't experienced either and have an open and willing mind to change some things. And that can't be bad for anyone!! In this day and age, when people seem to spend more time focussing on what they don't have, than appreciating what they do, it's probably an excellent starting point. And if that leads them to really understand the power of their own hearts, then that is even better.
The theory is, like attracts like, so while you spend your time being grateful for the good things in your life, even if they are just some tiny things to start with (and yes, even the worst off have plenty to be thankful for), those good things will grow, and by the end of it, you shouldn't have any time for anything but being grateful for the abundance in your life. There you go, that sums up the book. I'm grateful it was a quick and easy read. My life is amazing, and I never want to take that for granted, so The Magic was a wonderful wakeup call not to.
I know this stuff, it's Quantum Physics 101. But like all knowledge, unless we are practising it, it is completely redundant.
So every now and then you need a bit of 101 to get the juices flowing again. This did for me. And I am esepcially grateful for being reminded to do so!
Rhonda Byrne's first book 'The Secret' was one of the life changing books I've read in my entire lifetime so far. And my expectations from 'The Magic' was huge. The book is mainly about the attitude of gratitude and sadly it is only about that. The book's language is very simple and very impactful and I totally agree with the concept. However, this author managed to write an entire book on this seemingly simple word. It does get repetitive after a few chapters as it explores the same value over and over again while reiterating its importance. Its written as a 'guidebook' in which over 28 days of practising gratitude can change your life. Well, it seemed rather absurd as i was reading it. It appears to be more of self-denial from my point of view.

It appears to be more of self-denial from my point of view. Still i believe strongly in gratitude and being grateful, hence i did not chuck this book aside despite finding it rather unbelievable. It is not a book that people would really want to read but i find that many people NEED to read it. Not reading it as in taking the whole book seriously but using it as a reminder.
This book came at the right time. It served as a good reminder that we should live life with gratitude. Not because it can grant direct material gains(as the book insists) but rather for making our lives more enjoyable.
But i saw this book one day at barnes n noble. And thought hey the cover looks neat. So i took it home and began the journey. I did the practices and felt gratitude everyday as much as i could. Well a funny thing started to happen.
After about a month. All kinds of things happened in my life. I got promoted at work, now making 40$ an hour. I came home one day and my roommate gave me these tickets to a fair, the tickets costed 35$ a piece but he gave me 6 for free! A few days later my little sister got back from mexico and had been using her phone in mexico and racked up a 1100$ phone bill! I kept my cool and called at&t and right before i was going to pay the bill in full the lady on the other end told me that she would take off 1000$ the bill! And then took 35$ off our phone plan.
On top of that she said that for the next 12 months she would take 30$ off of our bill every month, i was in shock! I wrote in my journal for about 30 minutes that night with total gratitude. And thats not all. A week later i went to help one of my moms friends move some furniture around in her home, it took me about an hour. But after words she gave me 50$ and a brand new black leather office chair!
The exact same office chair that i wanted. I couldn't believe it, i swear to god these things happened! This was only weeks after i finished the book and was practicing the gratitude laws. I could write on here so many other things that happened to me shortly after reading the book. I will mention a few more because i want people to understand that this book totally changed my life. Well one morning i woke up with a sore back, and so i started looking into buying a new mattress but i thought maybe a memory foam 4 inch pad on top of my bed would be better and more convenient.
So i came home from work a few days later and my roommate said that his grandma had a memory foam pad that she gave him, but he didn't want it so he gave it to me! Haha it was insane i swear it was crazy! I couldn't believe all this was happening to me! My life was never this magical ever! What happened to me a few days later was even crazier but you have to believe me!!! Its a little weird of a story but bare with me.
So one day i needed the bathroom but we didn't have any toilet paper, so i frantically searched everywhere around the house! I luckily found a box of tissues and took it in the bathroom with me, and i did my business.
(sorry i know this isn't the best story to share) and when i took out a few tissues out of the box the box tipped over and fell on the floor. And all the tissues fell out of the box and AT THE BOTTOM UNDERNEATH THE TISSUES WERE 5 $20 DOLLAR BILLS!!!! At first i kept on with my business and didn't pay them any attention my mind didn't even register that money was in this box! But after a few seconds i was like 'what the heck is that money?' I sort of laughed to my self.
And reached over and sure enough there was $100 dollars cash! I asked my friend later and he said that his grandma must have put the money in there before she passed away. I guess that was her hiding spot. But i kept the money and was extremely grateful that i had found it. And in such a bizarre way!! But god the universal law have so many ways to bless you! Anything is possible.
And i realized that this book helped me tremendously in attracting all kinds of great things in my life! I seriously have so many more stories just like these, where i found money or a relationship was restored, got free gas!!
Haha i have so many things that happened to me after reading this book. I hope you guys don't think i made any of this up. I have shared my stories with many other people and they are always shocked at what great luck i have.
But i know better. I know its because i am a deeply grateful person. And its all because of this book, thank you rhonda byrne. You might never see this review but your book has changed my life in so many ways. I have attracted so much wonderful experiences into my life. And anyone who really puts this practices to work will reap the benefits as i have. Oh and I'm not much of a writer for forgive me for all grammar and spelling errors.:) god bless.

Be grateful and thank every thing around you, air, water, atmosphere, weather, health, arms, legs, bike, car, mobile, internet, computer, family, friends and each any everything that's around you. This book really brought MAGIC to my life. The Secret was the first book by Rhonda Bryne in which she explained and enlightened us with the secret of the universe, that is, THE LAW OF ATTRACTON.
The Magic is the latest book by Rhonda Bryne which is as great (if not better) like previous two (The Secret and The Power). In this book, Rhonda focuses on the magic of GRATITUDE and how it changes out life. She misses no clue and truly convinces us the power of gratitude. We almost can achieve and attract anything that our mind can conceal.
'IF YOUR MIND CAN CONCEIVE, SO IT CAN ACHIEVE' If you are grateful for what's in your life, the law of attraction will attract more of that into your life. She has designed a great 28 days exercise and the best part of book is, it can be read from any page. Whatever you can ever dream of, whether it maybe money, health, fame, success, materials, peace, friends, relationship, friends, etc.All the sections are given special titles and organized with suitable Titles.
You can just start reading and re-reading about anything and any chapter, anything that you want to attract in your life, just flip the page to the suitable title, and read the abundant knowledge proudly narrated in this book. The Magic is uplifting to read. Will it really completely change your life? It depends.working real gratitude into your life is a good thing. I have to say from the outset that I am a big fan of Rhonda Byrne's work; but I'm a fan of it because her books and film have literally transformed my life and life of many others. Rhonda Byrne has provided us with a fuller picture of the Law of Attraction in her previous book, and Now she has provided us with even more fuller picture of The Gratitude power. There is no doubt that the practice of gratitude (what The Magic is all about) is the absolute fastest way to a magical, joyful life.
It's also, for me, the most natural and enjoyable way of making my life better. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's interested in self-help and wants to attract anything that he/she desires in their personal and professional life. I would rate this book a 10 out of 5.
YES YOU HEARD IT RIGHT. It's that good. Do yourself a favor, and Pick up this book right now.
Hope the Magic works for YOU! Today,I came across this book 'The Magic' which I read last year and felt an urge to write a review for the same because this book actually disappointed me. The idea behind the book is good, that is we should show gratitude and should be grateful for the simple things in our life. But this simple thing called 'Gratitude' is explained here with so many exercises, which I don't have time for in my full packed life and here writer ask you to do silly stuff(No disrespect) like for an example, 1.Find a Magic Rock and keep it at your bedside. 2.Before going to bed hold the Magic Rock in your hand and think of the best things that happened to you today.
3.And then while holding the rock, say the magic words, Thank you. 4.And repeat this exercise for next 26 days.(Hell that sucks,I'm not gonna hold a rock everyday and say thank you to it) I'm fine with showing gratitude and I myself am grateful for many things, but this stuff 'The Magic' didn't change my life, might be did for others, but not for me. So,basically this book can be summed up in just one word, that is 'Gratitude'. Giving this book also a 3 out of 5 starts. This is the second book after The Secret. Unfortunately for me the first book was better i feel like some things are like copy and pasted in this one. Overall a good book to read and what is good that is not connected to the first one, so if you have not read the first one read this one it will help you. “When you talk about any difficulties with money, a relationship, an illness, or even that the profits of your business are down, you are not talking about what you love. When you talk about a bad event in the news, or a person or situation that annoyed or frustrated you, you are not talking about what you love. Talking about the bad day you had, being late for an appointment, getting caught in traffic, or missing the bus are all talking about what you don’t love. There are many little things that happen each day; if you get caught up in talking about what you don’t love, every one of those little things brings more struggle and difficulty to your life.
You have to talk about the good news of the day. Talk about the appointment that went well. Talk about how you love being on time. Talk about how good it is to be full of health. Talk about the profits you want your business to achieve.
Talk about the situations and interactions you had in your day that went well. You have to talk about what you love, to bring what you love to you.” —.
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my. Thanks for visiting! I embarked on my journey of the Magic in the beginning of April.I was not sure what to think of this book but decided to give it a shot. The first lesson of the Magic was the practice, count your blessings.
Everyday you make a list of ten blessings and write why you are grateful for them. You read them out load or in your head and say the magic words “thank you” three times after each one as you say them. This process was hard for me to stick with 100% I will admit due to the fact I was not on a regular schedule and not a morning person.
I did however manage to do this most days and found that this practice alone was a very powerful one for me. On day two you add your nightly practice of the magic rock.
This is where you find an object (a rock) and keep it in a place that you will see often. Every night before you go to sleep you grab your magic rock and think back over your day and say “thank you” for the best thing that happened to you during the day. I really liked this practice and I still practice this one daily. I found this one to be a very easy and enjoyable one to do. The next 26 days you continue to do your morning routine and night routine coupled with a daily exercise. This process really made me think and feel different levels of gratitude and really opened my eyes to how much I took for granted. The fact that I am healthy, have a roof over my head, have a very supportive family and great group of friends.
I have so many blessings that I never even think about or even realize how much of a gift they are to me everyday. There were several lessons that deal with being thankful for the air you breathe, the water and food you have and all the people who make it possible for you to eat. This was powerful and it made me think of all those people in third world countries who do not have a grocery store to go to. They have to hunt and work to find clean water to drink, so the fact that we can go to the store and have so many options to choose from is a major blessing. We often take going to the store as a chore and not a blessing many of us take for granted everyday. So now when I drive up to the grocery store and walk the aisles of clean fruit and veggies, I say “thank you” to the universe that I have food available to me to buy and eat.
There were so many different lessons in this book that really opened my eyes and some I still do. I really liked the lesson magnificent Outcomes that deals with manifesting positive outcomes and having situations come out better than expected before they happen. Learning this really has helped me be more positive and also helped with coupling the law of attraction and gratitude together. This is a very powerful combination that speeds up manifesting abundance and I personally can tell you that it works! I used this practice for a job interview and it really worked, I was less stressed and it went really well.
I manifested it going a certain way, less traffic, getting a good parking space and a good energy with the person I was to meet. All that I manifested and thought about while driving there happened. To me that was priceless and very powerful, so I was very pleased with this lesson and still use it everyday. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I feel more at peace inside.
I have witnessed some positive blessings in my life, have more love and support from family and friends and overall have grown I feel as a person. I have become a bit more humble, less selfish and learned to be thankful for the world I live in, the people I am surrounded with and the love from above that shines on me everyday.
Life has been tough for me this past year but honestly this was a very positive experience and I will continue to practice gratitude in my daily life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in manifesting love, abundance and blessings into their life. For more info you can watch all of the 28 days of magic on my youtube channel and also read the additional blog posts for every day of the magic.
If you would like to buy the book you can here. Well since you did not read it then really you cannot give an opinion on it since you do not know the meaning behind it.
This book is about learning to be grateful and the power of this act. It is not about becoming a millionaire etc. The secret is also not a get rich book but a way of opening your mind to the power of positive thinking and learning to make things work for you purely on your thoughts and intentions. There is a lot of truth there but again if you go into it with a negative this is “nonsense” attitude then you will get zero results.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I do challenge you to do the Magic and see if you get any positive results are you up for it?
Hi Michelle, I bought the book back in December and when i started praticing some of the things the book mentioned and I have to admit my life started changing. I did not continue due to different reasons with staying on schedule so I have decided to start over. I am a strong believer of the book “The Magic” and I also have the book “The Secret”.
This does work and for the ones who says it doesn’t all I have to say is you get out of it what you put in it. If you think negative that is what you will attract. “Thoughts do become things”. Good Luck on your journey.
Hi I have done this Magic practice want to share my exp here. I did this book a couple months ago for a relationship.
When I was on day 25 I had a huge fight with my boyfriend and we broke up.I almost gave up, but I finished the exercises. It’s been three weeks we don’t speak to eachother, and I’m almost freaking out. I want to believe so badly he’s coming back to me and sometimes I doubt it. Now I’m starting the book all over again, but this time doing it for myself and struggling to believe he’s coming to me again.
I’m starting to do the relationship exercise everyday, but I’m an anxious person and don’t have the pacience to wait, that’s my problem and being like this is not gonna help me. Hello Anamika, so glad you are doing this journey it really is a powerful and positive one.
It really helped me when I was in a really low point in my life and even 9 months later things really just started to happen for me. It made me really humble and not take things for granted. I use some of the practices every morning still in my car on my way to work. If nothing else you learn a lot about yourself and how you see the world. Good luck and let me know how you are doing on your progress! God bless, Michelle. Hello Pragya, I am very sorry to hear you are going through a relationship issue.
I have had a few of those myself.;) I cannot tell you what the outcome will be for your relationship with that one person. But I can tell you that things and people around you will change and move in a more positive light.
Being grateful and not stuck in our “me first” or “pity me” attitude really does change your perspective. I know first hand major things happened for me and they continued to evolve over the next year after. I can tell you that you will only benefit from this and that by doing this some things around you will change for the better.;) Good luck on your relationship and please keep me posted! Hello there, The Magic is good for sorting out some issues and problems that you are having and of course positive thinking is always a good thing. As for boring, you can start off by being thankful and grateful for all that you have now. Just envision yourself embracing new hobbies, new friends and new opportunities. You also have to be willing to make some positive changes but also just really focusing in on your thoughts and practicing the Magic.
Good luck and please let me know your progress. God Bless, Michelle. I cannot thank you enough for the Magic book. My life was in turmoil. I married hastily after the death of my father. Gave up a good job and my home to move across water to be with my new husband.
From the day I stepped into the new country I knew I had made the biggest mistake of my life. I heard about the book while sitting on a flight from Dublin. A young girl was sitting next to me.
The American lady next to her was telling her that she had helped out on the work of this book and the secret. I felt drawn to the conversation and as soon as I stepped off the plane I went straight to the bookshop.
Here 6 years later after making my mistake did my world change. And only because of this book. I still read my journals back and pinch myself when I see how everything changed for me. Everything I wished off or imagined happened. I have moved back to my home town. Met a new man who is the man of my dreams.

Thank you thank you thank you so much for giving me back the magic I had as a child and making my world a better place.

Contents. Background The Secret was released as a film in March 2006, and later the same year as a book. The book is influenced by ' 1910 book, which Byrne received from her daughter during a time of personal trauma in 2004. Synopsis Byrne re-introduces a pseudo-scientific notion originally popularized by persons such as and, which suggests that thinking about certain things will make them appear in one's life. Byrne provides alleged examples of historical persons who have achieved this.
Byrne cites a three-step process to achieve this: ask, believe, and receive. This is based on a quotation from the 's: 'And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.' Byrne highlights the importance of gratitude and visualization in achieving one's desires, along with alleged examples.
Later chapters describe how to improve one's prosperity, relationships, and health, with more general thoughts about the universe. Reception Gross The book has been translated into 50 languages and has sold over 20 million copies. Due partly to an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, the book and film had grossed $300 million in sales by 2009. Byrne has subsequently released Secret merchandise and several related books.
Critical response The Secret received excellent customer reviews by the general public. It got 4.8/5 on, 3.63/5 on, 3/5 on, 4.6/5 on, 4.45/5 on, and 4.5/5 on. US TV host is a proponent of the book.
On she said that the message of The Secret is the message she's been trying to share with the world on her show for the past 21 years. Author was later invited to her show along people who vow by The Secret. Elizabeth Scott states the pros and cons of the book in her review. The pros she points out are that it is empowering, that even if things seem bleak it reminds you that there is a lot that you can do to change your circumstances. It gives the reader research on optimism, visualization, and the power of perspective, while stating that The Secret encourages people to really visualize their goals clearly in order to attract what they want. The cons that Scott points out are that some people believe that it conflicts with their religious values, while others see it as a complementary approach.
The book does spend considerable time on how to use the Law of Attraction to gain expensive material possessions, and without direct action; many people have asserted that having such a focus on external things and material wealth goes against the spiritual wisdom of the Law of Attraction. Other cons that Scott points out are the criticism of the idea that we create our own difficult circumstances in life, pointing out people born in extreme poverty, and that The Law of Attraction is not scientifically proven, but more of an anecdotally-observed phenomenon.' Her final thoughts are: 'Though there are some hiccups to it, I would say that this book can provide some excellent opportunities for stress relief, and a rough road map to a better life. Valerie Frankel of wrote an article where she tries the principles of The Secret for four weeks. While she reached some of her goals, others had improved. Frankel's final assessment is: 'Counting my blessings has been uplifting, reminding me of what's already great about my life. Visualization has forced me to pay attention to what I really desire.
And laughing is never a bad idea. If you ignore The Secret's far-too-simplistic maxims (no, you will not be doomed to a miserable life for thinking negative thoughts) and the hocus-pocus (the cosmos isn't going to deliver a new car; it's busy), there's actually some helpful advice in the book. But it's nothing you don't already know.'
In 2009, published Bright-Sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America as a reaction to self-help books such as The Secret, claiming that they promote political complacency and a failure to engage with reality. Has provided historical context, locating Byrne's book in the tradition of and popular religion, and concluding that 'it isn’t new, and it isn’t a secret'. Byrne's scientific claims, in particular concerning, have been rejected by a range of authors including Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons at and physicist. Mary Carmichael and Ben Radford, writing for the, have also pointed out that The Secret has no scientific foundation, stating that Byrne's book represents: 'a time-worn trick of mixing banal with and presenting it as some sort of hidden knowledge: basically, it’s the new.'
